Artists are always searching for new techniques and methods of expression. In contemporary art, in particular, works are often created using something other than a brush. This time, we will introduce artists who create works using something other than a brush, such as the artist Rokkaku Ayako, who is exhibiting in the 1st floor gallery, and the Gutai Art Association's Shiraga Kazuo, Kinashi Aine, and Sumi Yasuo, who are exhibiting in the 2nd floor museum. Let's actually try painting with something other than a brush.

REPORT

It's more free and fun than drawing with crayons.
The March workshop "Let's Draw with Our Hands" took place during a three-day weekend that included the Vernal Equinox, and many of the participants were children and tourists. On the first day, the venue was always fully booked, making it very lively. After listening to an introduction by the artist and various methods of painting without using a brush, it was time for the real "Let's Draw with Our Hands" workshop! At first, the children were scared to even touch the paint with their bare hands, but by the end, they seemed liberated and were having fun staining their hands with paint!
On the final day, local Karuizawa kindergarteners to second graders gathered to practice "Let's draw pictures with our hands"! By the end, the participants were so excited that many wanted to do it again! In fact, there were many enthusiastic art fans who participated throughout the day, from the morning session onwards. Thank you to everyone who participated. We have decided to hold our April workshop "Let's play with collages" on Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th. If you were unable to come this time, please feel free to join us. We look forward to seeing you!

Sticking it with your hands, shaking it with a tea strainer and a toothbrush
When you drip the liquid and tilt the paper, your body also tilts.
Finished! This is the first time I've drawn with my fingers, brush and abacus! A satisfied smile.
